Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and assured all assistance from the central government after storm hit many parts of the state.
"Spoke to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar ji on situation arising due to storms in various parts of the tate. Assured all assistance from Centre," Modi tweeted.
He said Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Bihar to take stock of the situation.
At least 32 people have been killed and around 100 injured in a tropical storm that lashed Purnia, Madhepura and many other districts late on Tuesday night.
Nitish Kumar has announced compensation of Rs.4 lakh each to the families of those killed.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has also expressed deep anguish over the havoc caused by the cyclonic storm in Bihar.
She asked the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee and the frontal organisations of the party to do everything possible to provide immediate relief and succour to the affected people.
