Puerto Rico's Monica Puig pulled off a surprise win 0-6,6-4,6-4 over second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark on the fourth day of the Miami Open.
Wozniacki, who won the WTA Finals in Singapore in October last year, devastated Puig in the first set to take it 6-0, reports EFE news agency.
But everything changed in the first game of the second set, when Puig set up a breakpoint, which the world number two managed to save.
The 2016 Olympic Gold medallist finally managed to break Wozniacki in the fifth game to tie the match and recover her confidence.
Puig, ranked 82 in the world, who beat Australia's Samantha Stosur 6-3,6-4, in the first round, started the third set in fine form to earn an early break and then held on to win the set.
Puig will now meet Greece's Maria Sakkari, who beat Estonia's Anett Kontaveit 6-4,6-1, in the third round.
