An Egyptian court has jailed ousted president Mohamed Morsi for four days pending investigations over insulting the judiciary, state-run Ahram website reported Saturday.

Morsi, in a televised interview, accused 22 judges of fraud during the 2005 parliamentary elections, Xinhua reported.

He is also accused of attempting to influence the trial of Ahmed Shafiq, his rival in the presidential elections.

Morsi is now serving a renewed 15-day term pending investigations over charges of spying and breaking out of prison during the 2011 turmoil which toppled president Hosni Mubarak.

He is also to be tried, along with 14 other Muslim Brotherhood members, for inciting violence and murder, but no date has yet been set.
