'Mortal Kombat' reboot to be helmed by Simon McQuoid

Australian filmmaker and acclaimed commercial director Simon McQuoid is in talks to helm the reboot of popular video game franchise "Mortal Kombat" which was adapted into two live-action film adaptations in the 1990s as well as a web series called "Mortal Kombat: Legacy".

The reboot will be a remake of Paul W.S. Anderson's 1995 film adaptation, which was based on the game franchise, reports variety.com.

Greg Russo has written the most recent draft for the movie that has been in the works for quite a long time.

James Wan will be co-producing the film with Michael Clear, Todd Garner, Jeremy Stein, while it will have Lawrence Kasanoff as its executive producer.
