The team behind American drama-thriller television series "Mr. Robot" has initiated a unique coordinated global campaign which will see the show's fictional hacker society 'FSociety' releasing nation-specific global rants via Facebook LIVE in 12 countries, including India, within a span of 24 hours.
The campaign was launched in the US on Friday. The rants would be nothing short of harsh, furious and outrageous -- and would mostly revolve around current issues affecting each country thereby asking the public to wake up. The rant will also take place in India on Friday evening, read a statement.
"Mr. Robot", created by Sam Esmail, stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cyber security engineer and hacker who suffers from social anxiety disorder and clinical depression.
Alderson is recruited by an insurrectionary anarchist known as "Mr. Robot", played by Christian Slater, to join a group of hacktivists. The group aims to cancel all debts by attacking the large corporation E Corp.
"Mr. Robot" has received critical acclaim and has been nominated for multiple awards, winning the 2015 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama.
The pilot premiered on multiple online and video-on-demand services on May 27, 2015, and the series was renewed for a second season.
The 12-episode second season will premiere on July 13, Colors Infinity channel will premiere the second season of the series in India along with the US on July 14 (India time).
Malek shared that the second season is "very different but in such a good way".
"It's very much a season that looks at the cause and effect of trying to have a revolution of that sort, what the negative consequences are, and what people will really do to get what they want. I would say that's a major theme of this season," he said.
