The widow of former CPI-M leader T.P. Chandrasekheran, who was brutally murdered, will now approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi to press for a CBI probe into his murder.
"I have already approached the NDA government with this request but am yet to hear about it. So I have decided to meet Modi and request that a CBI probe be launched into the murder," Rema said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here Thursday.
Chandrasekheran, 51, who launched the Revolutionary Marxist Party, was hacked 51 times by assailants May 4, 2012, when he was returning home on his motorcycle in his hometown near Kozhikode.
A popular leader in and around the Kozhikode district, Chandrasekheran took on his former party CPI-M from which he was ousted in 2008 and flayed their ideological stand.
This forced CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan to publicly declare Chandrasekheran a "renegade".
Rema also said the probe was not being conducting properly as there was an understanding between the ruling Congress and the Left opposition in the state.
"This was evident on more than one occasion after the Congress government here faced a few cases like the solar scam. The probe here did not go in the proper direction," added Rema.
A Kozhikode court in January this year sentenced 11 of the 12 accused to life in the case, and let off 24, but the Kerala government did not appeal against the verdict.
