Pakistan Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif Tuesday met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House here and discussed Chinese President Xi Jinping's forthcoming visit to Pakistan and the internal security situation of the country.
On Monday, Gen. Sharif met Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong at the army's General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, and discussed the security aspects of Xi's visit, Dawn reported.
Gen. Sharif also briefed the prime minister about the arrests made by the security forces in connection with the Dec 16 Taliban attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, in which over 140 school children and staff were killed.
Security forces in an intelligence-based operation Monday arrested Taj Muhammad alias Rizwan, who was one of the primary executors of the Taliban attack on the school.
Earlier, the army claimed to have made key arrests in connection with the school attack and said that all those involved, except six suspects, had either been killed or captured.
"The gang involved in the school attack comprised of 27 terrorists, 12 of whom have been arrested in Pakistan and Afghanistan, nine have been killed and six are at large," an army statement said.
