NCC in quarters of Subroto Cup

K. Ansari netted nine goals Thursday as National Cadet Corps (NCC), Maharashtra became the first team to enter the quarterfinals with a 30-0 win over a clueless Sri Lanka's Defence Service College in the U-14 category of the 55th Subroto Cup Football Tournament here Thursday at the Ambedkar Stadium.

Ansari netted nine goals, B. Naresh (six), Raul Lewish (five) D Vedanta (3), Sanathan (2) and Rishikesh More, Sonoessa and U Ansari one each contributed to the goal party.

Though both NCC and Krishnadevpur High School (KDP), Burdwan, have same points from two wins and a draw, the Maharashtra side progressed on the basis of a better goal difference from pool A.

In other matches, KDP High School defeated Kerala's NNM High School 5-0.

In pool D, Car Nicobar Islands forfeited the match against Assam's Birjhora Higher Secondary School, conceding full points. Haryana's Southpoint Public School drew goalless with Goa's Bethany Convent High School.

The Results:

Southpoint Public School, Sonepat, Haryana drew with Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose De Areal, Goa, 0-0.

NCC Maharashtra defeated Defence Service College, Srilanka, 30-0. Maharashtra team scorers (Sonoessa 1',9, K Ansari 4',14',18',21', 35', 39'', 46', 47', 51', Raul Lewis 5', 6', 34', 44', 51, Rishikesh More 8', Naresh B 12',15',22',27',33',40', Sanathan 24',25', 37', 41, D.Vedanta 25', 26',49').

Krishnadevapur High School, Burdwan, West Bengal defeated NNMHS, Chelambra,Kerala, 5-0. Scorers (NarenTudu 1', Robin Yudu 6',Amit da 20',36', Rahul Chandu 42').

Govt. Chawngfianga Middle School, Mizoram (Lakhrirtphia 19m, Ram 38, Lal Than Sangha 46) beat Sainik School, Imphal, Manipur, 3-0.

Govt. Boys Higher Sec School, Jaspur, Chhattisgarh lost to LokSmriti Higher Secondary School, Gwarko, Lalitpur, Nepal 0-15 (Rajib 19 Sec, 7, 12, 35, 43; Rejin 11,30, 50; Jaya Gurung 40; Anil 8,18, 27; Ntrajan 42, Darshan 34; Binay 37).

St Ignatius High School, Gumla, Jharkhand beat (Jaibir Kumar-8, 22, 23, 24, 35, 40, 42, 47; Paskal 1, 32, 46; Oswin 10; Shubham 17, 19; Animesh 20, Amit Kumar 28, 36, 39, 44, 48, 49, 50) Govt. Sr Sec School, Agatti, Lakshadweep 22-0.

Greenwood High School, Dimapur, Nagaland (Imnong 24; Kito 32; Iokavi 40) beat Maharashtra High School & Jr College, Kolhapur, Maharashtra,3-0.

Govt Sec School, Mus, Car Nicobar vs Birjhora Higher Sec School, Bongaigaon, Assam. Assam got three points as the Car Nicobar team gave a walkover.
