Aurangabad, April 17 (IANS) The teenaged son of an NCP leader was arrested here after he lost control of the SUV he was driving, crushing three people and killing a three-year-old girl instantly here.
The incident occurred Tuesday at 8.15 a.m. at the busy Doordarshan Kendra junction in the New Aurangabad area.
Syed Bilal, 17, son of state NCP vice president and head of the minority cell A. Kadir Maulana, was arrested with his driver Mohammed Amar Chaus, who was in the passenger seat when the incident occurred.
"The law will take its own course and appropriate action would be taken against the guilty," state NCP spokesperson Jitendra Awhad said even as the party washed its hands of the embarrassing incident.
According to Aurangabad police Wednesday, the SUV ran over Shirish Sonawane, 35, and his nieces five-year-old Sayali and three-year-old Navya, who were going to pray at a temple nearby.
It then hit a motorcycle and finally crashed against a wall, where it came to a stop.
An irate mob attacked the SUV with stones, smashing its windows and turned it over on its side.
Bilal is the youngest son of Maulana, also a businessman with interests in the realty sector and who has been a municipal corporator.
