Gurugram District and Session Judge Harnaam Singh Thakur on Thursday said there are nearly 65,000 cases pending in the district court, out of which over 20,000 are of check bounce.
Addressing a press conference in his room in the court premises, Thakur said there are 45 cases which are pending for a decade and nearly 1,000 cases have been pending for five years in the 42 courts here.
Judge Thakur said two justice towers having eight and seven floors will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 133 crore in Gurugram, for which 'bhumi poojan' ceremony will be held on January 21.
The ceremony will be attended by Punjab and Haryana High Court's justice S.K. Mittal and justice Suryakant Sharma, he added.
He said the towers will have 55 court rooms and will be equipped with all modern facilities, including recording of statements through video conferencing, and will be built in three years.
The towers will also have chambers for lawyers, banks, libraries, CCTV cameras, canteen and other facilities.
Justice Thakur said that after the bhoomi pujan, Justice Mittal and Sharma will lay the foundation stone in Sohna where eight court rooms will be built in 4.4 acres at a cost of Rs 22 crore.
