Nepali Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Saturday congratulated former cricketer Imran Khan on his election as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In his congratulatory message, Oli recalled friendly relations between Nepal and Pakistan while extending his wishes for successful tenure of Khan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
"In the message, Prime Minister (Oli) also expressed hope that bilateral relations will be further strengthened during the tenure of Khan," the statement added.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief was administered the oath of office by President Mamnoon Hussain in a ceremony which was attended by diplomats, ministers, lawmakers, military and civil officials as well as dignitaries.
He was elected the Prime Minister by the National Assembly on Friday.
