Netgear enables industry's first cost-effective 10G Smart Switch

Global networking leader Netgear has introduced the ProSAFE® 10-Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switches (XS712T) -- the industry's first and only Smart Switch with 2 Combo SFP+ for 10G Fiber links, the company announced on Thursday.

Netgear, which delivers innovative products to businesses, consumers, and service providers, seeks to extend its leadership in 12 10-GBase-T copper ports (12-10 GBASE-T) switching solutions with the new product, said Subhodeep Bhattacharya, Netgear's regional director for India and Saarc.

"Our ProSAFE XS712T offers our channel partners a chance to ride the next wield in networking as it provides budding networks a migration path to latest technologies without sacrificing current hardware investments," elaborated Bhattacharya.

The new product is purposely designed as a cost-effective way to provide 10G connections to 10G-capable servers and NAS (Network Attached Storage). It can be used as a 10G access switch, uplink to 10G Managed switch (XSM7224) while expending the 10G connections down to the edge, said the company in a statement here.

Netgear ProSAFE 28-port 10-Gigabit Smart Managed Switch (XS728T) is now available worldwide through authorized Netgear partners and other reseller channels. It has an MRP of Rs.1.45 lakh and carries a lifetime warranty, the statement said.
