The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notice to the Rajasthan government over the death of 11 children, living in state-run rehabilitation home, under mysterious circumstances within a period of the last 12 days, a statement said on Friday.
Taking a sou motu cognizance of the entire issue through media reports, the commission has said that the issue is a human rights violation of the victims.
"Accordingly, the commission has issued notices to the chief secretary, director general of police and director general, health services, government of Rajasthan calling for reports within two weeks," said a NHRC statement.
The commission has said that the allegations of the government's failure in upkeep of the home have also been reported as the reason behind the incident.
