The National Human Rights Commission Friday said it would constitute a team for a surprise inspection of the juvenile home here.

"The commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report quoting a juvenile released from Seva Kutir Juvenile Home, Mukherjee Nagar, New Delhi that it was quite dangerous to be inside the home as everyday there were brawls and beatings," said a NHRC statement.

The commission also issued a notice to the secretary, Department of Social Welfare, Delhi, calling for a report within four weeks on inmates of the house who went on a rampage Dec 17.

Around 80 boys created a ruckus and rioted inside the observation home Dec 17 afternoon which continued till late in the night.

Two welfare officers and some juveniles suffered injuries while 15 boys managed to escape after scaling the boundary wall of the home.

The boys also attempted to explode a cooking gas cylinder in the kitchen.
