Gernot Rohr, coach of Nigeria's national men's football team, has vowed to beat the Algeria in Saturday's World Cup qualifier in the country's southeastern city of Uyo.
"The Algerians are a very good side, we have a task to win the match," Xinhua quoted the German as telling reporters here on Thursday.
The north Africans are expected to arrive the city of Uyo, capital of Nigeria's oil-rich Akwa Ibom State, later on Thursday for the match scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Algeria, known to have a fast-paced attacking squad, will be missing some of its experienced players in action due to injuries during Saturday's match.
The two countries have met 17 times in competitive matches, with Nigeria having won eight, losing six and three draws.
