A Nigerian national was arrested here with 47 grams of cocaine worth Rs.47 lakh in the international market, police said on Thursday.

Stanley Martins Uzoma, 49, was arrested on Tuesday near PVR cinema in north Delhi's Prashant Vihar area. The cocaine was to be sold to one of his contacts in the city, police said.

Police said Uzoma was illegally residing in south Delhi's Hauz Rani area after his visa expired in January.

He came in India in December 2009 on a business visa seeking business opportunities, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said

"Thereafter, he frequently visited India. Recently, he came to India in August 2014 and landed in Mumbai. Thereafter, he came to Delhi," Yadav said.

Uzoma, according to Yadav, stayed in Nalasopara area of Mumbai where he came in contact with other Nigerian nationals, who are also drug traffickers and used to earn quick money by supplying cocaine.

"Uzoma joined them and become effective supplier of cocaine as it is highly in demand in Mumbai and Delhi. He started supplying cocaine to youngsters in south Delhi, north Delhi and other adjoining areas of Delhi," Yadav said.

Yadav said Uzoma purchased cocaine from a Nigerian national Steven in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar locality.

"Steven never disclosed his address to him and conducted all his dealings through a mobile phone," said Yadav, adding that a hunt is on for Steven.
