Nina Dobrev won't be part of 'The Originals' final season

Actress Nina Dobrev will not be seen in the fifth and final season of the hit sitcom "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off "The Originals".

Dobrov will not reprise her role as Elena Gilbert in the spin-off as she is currently busy with other projects, reports ew.com.

"No, I will not be on 'The Originals', no," Dobrev said.

"We literally just wrapped a few months ago. I doubt that would be in the books for me. But, yeah, no, I've been so busy with all kinds of other things going on right now that I don't know that I'd be able to sign on," she added.

The 28-year-old said that being old is another reason why she opted for not appearing on "The Originals".

"I'm not a young twenty-something anymore. I don't think I could play a vampire. I'm getting old," she said.

"The Originals" season 5 is scheduled to premiere in 2018.
