Nine people were killed and over a dozen injured in two road accidents in Uttar Pradesh due to fog, police said on Friday.
At least six people were killed and over a dozen injured when a tempo, carrying pilgrims to Chitrakoot for Amavasya Mela, had a head-on collision with a speeding Roadways bus in the foggy morning at a bridge over Mandakini river, police said.
The bus driver apparently failed to notice the approaching tempo due to dense fog and poor visibility.
Three people were critically injured and hospitalised with others, a police official told IANS, adding that the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.
In the other accident, at least three people were killed and four others injured at midnight in Jaitpur area of Barabanki district, neighbouring Lucknow, when a car driver lost its control near the Indauliya village and hit a roadside tree.
