The Goa Police on Friday charge-sheeted former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane's son and MLA Nitesh Rane in connection with a 2008 assault and criminal intimidation case.
Rane, a Congress MLA from Kankavali Assembly constituency in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, along with several others, was booked for assaulting a toll booth operator at North Goa's Pernem sub-district.
The incident occurred on December 3, when Rane along with his entourage was entering Goa from Sindhudurg and was stopped at Dhargal toll booth near Pernem to pay entry toll.
"The charge-sheet has been filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Pernem," a police spokesperson said.
