The Change of Guard ceremony that takes place every Saturday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan will not be held June 7 due to full dress rehearsal by the President's Bodyguards, it was announced.
"The Change of Guard ceremony will not be held on Saturday, June 7 due to the full dress rehearsal by the President's Bodyguards in connection with the president's address to both houses of the parliament on June 9," said a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The ceremony takes place every Saturday at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. A military tradition, it involves the periodic change of guard, when a fresh body of troops take charge.
It was opened to the public in 2007. To make it more visually appealing and public-friendly, it was revamped and relocated in December 2012 after President Pranab Mukherjee assumed office.
