Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Monday reiterated that no government would be possible at the Centre without the support of his party. He said the SP would play the kingmaker after the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a "Desh Bachao, Desh Banao" rally in Gonda, 100 km from here, the SP leader also referred to the alliance in Tamil Nadu between the AIADMK and the CPI, saying UP had 80 seats in the Lok Sabha while Tamil Nadu had just 39.

"Even if she (J. Jayalalithaa) wins all, the number is still half of UP and am sure that youngsters from the state will give us much more seats this time," he added.

Attacking Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi by calling him a "guilty man", Mulayam Yadav said Modi can never have any comparison with him.

Highlighting the good work of the UP government, run by his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, he said such remarkable work on welfare schemes and development projects had not been done in any other state.

"The father-son now are chanting the name of Modi all the time but the people of the state have pressed the exit button for them and our showing in the Lok Sabha polls would demonstrate that," said state BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak.
