Two-wheeler drivers not wearing helmets will not get fuel at petrol pumps in three Kerala cities from August 1, a senior officer said on Wednesday.
Transport Commissioner Tomin P.Thachenkery said to start with this new rule will be applicable in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.
"We held discussions with petroleum dealers in the three cities and they have all agreed to the suggestion," said Thachenkery, who holds the rank of additional director general of police.
He said the law-enforcers can impose a fine ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 on those who do not wear helmets.
