Putting out wrong news about the health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa on Monday evening resulted in normal life getting impacted here and in other parts of the state.

As some Tamil television channels announced that Jayalalithaa was no more, it immediately resulted in minor violence outside the Apollo Hospitals where she is admitted for treatment.

With the wrong news spreading like wildfire, shops fearing untoward incidents downed their shutters and people rushed back home.

Normally crowded areas like T.Nagar and other places wore a deserted look and roads were bereft of vehicles.

Public transport was halted in several places in the state putting people to hardship while several buses were stoned by miscreants here.

In an attempt to stock up, people queued up at petrol bunks and provision shops in some areas.

As the number of buses that plied on the roads got reduced commuters thronged railway stations to catch a train to reach their homes.

With uncertainty looming, shop owners were reluctant to reopen their shops after the channels corrected their error.
