A Northern Ireland football fan died on Sunday night after falling off the promenade in this southern French city of Nice in what appears to be an accident, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred when the man fell eight metres off the promenade, a Nice police spokesperson said, reports Efe.
The victim died in hospital after falling on to the sand and suffering a serious head injury.
Northern Ireland lost their first match of Euro 2016 against Poland 0-1 on Sunday, though without any clashes between fans of the two national teams.
However, on Saturday there were battles between Northern Irish fans and local youths, which left seven people injured.
