The Odisha government on Wednesday urged the Tata group to develop an information technology and electronics manufacturing cluster at Naraj in the state's Cuttack district.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik put forth the proposal to Tata group chairman Cyrus Mistry. He also took up several industrial projects that could be developed by the industrial group in Odisha.
As for the cluster at Naraj, the chief minister said 800 acres of land had been set aside for industrial development there.
Tata Power could consider setting up of a defence electronics manufacturing cluster at the location, as was done in Bangalore, said Patnaik.
He also proposed a photovoltaic cells manufacturing unit at Info-valley by Tata BP Solar, a hotel at Bhubaneswar by Taj Group, and expansion of TCS, said a release from the Chief Minister's Office.
The chief minister expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of an industrial park and special economic zone at Gopalpur in Ganjam district.
He proposed to the Tata group chairman to consider defence manufacturing industry there.
The Tata Group chairman and other company officials assured to consider these proposals at the earliest. There would be further discussion on these suggestions, said the release.
