The Odisha government on Friday issued a notification for holding panchayat elections in the state.
According to the gazette notification issued by the Panchayati Raj department, elections will be held for the gram panchayats, panchayat samitis, and zilla parishads in the state.
The state government has already informed the State Election Commission (SEC) of of its preparedness to to hold the polls and the SEC would announce the dates soon, said an official.
Elections for 6805 panchayats and 853 zilla parishad zones would be held. The people would also elect 92,057 ward members, said the official.
