The Odisha government on Saturday requested the NITI Ayog for flexibility in implememtimg the various central government schemes.
"We have requested for granting flexibility in the various schemes. The state government does not have the flexibility for any change required for easy implementation," said Chief Secretary A.P. Padhi after holding a meeting with NITI Ayog chief Amitabh Kant here.
If the state wants to make small modifications, the Centre should grant permission for easy implementation of the schemes in the state, he added. The NITI Ayog chief on Saturday reviewed the Aspirational District Programme, a joint initiative of the Central and state governments.
The state requested for flexibility in the flagship programmes like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana suiting the state requirements.
Padhi pointed out the common basic requirements of the 10 identified districts on five thematic areas as outlined by NITI Ayog.
Padhi pointed out the urgent need for creation of banking facilities, establishment of digital connectivity, credit flow to agriculture and MSME sector from commercial banks, establishment of railway connectivity, timely flow of ST and SC scholarships.
CEO Kant said: "State has given very practical, positive and pertinent suggestions. NITI Ayog will take up the issues with respective Ministries and find out appropriate solutions".
