A 19-year-old student from Odisha Thursday attempted suicide at a hotel here after failing to win over his girlfriend, police said.
Rajat Ranjan, a fashion technology student from Bhubaneswar, tried to burn himself after pouring petrol on his body.
Police personnel from Rakabganj police station rushed after a luxury hotel called to say that a tourist had tried to kill himself.
Ranjan was rushed to the S.N. Medical College Hospital, where he received treatment for burns.
Police said he wrote a suicide note expressing his frustration but blamed no one. The man also sketched his girlfriend's picture on a wall of the hotel room.
