The Odisha government on Friday decided to develop four airstrips and make them operational by next year.

It has planned to develop infrastructure facilities and expand the runways of four airstrips at Rangeilunda, Jeypore, Baripada and Padmapur, said an official.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.

The state has 28 airstrips, of which 12 are managed by the state government.
