Kerala, ravaged by floods, saw a drop of Rs 17 crore in liquor sales during Onam season compared to last year.
The 10-day Onam sale has been the benchmark sales figure for the Kerala State Beverages Corp, the sole wholesaler of liquor in Kerala.
The total sale of liquor and beer this season was Rs 516 crore, down by Rs 17 crore from 2017.
There are 270 retail outlets in the state, of which 60 were shut during the Onam period due to the floods. As of Monday, 15 are yet to open.
