A member of the Greek team has been expelled from the Rio Games after testing positive for drugs, the country's Olympic Committee has said.

The unidentified athlete tested positive for banned substances in a pre-Games test conducted in July in Athens, reports Xinhua.

"The Hellenic Olympic Committee has requested the testing of all Greek athletes who are going to participate in the Games. The specific team member has now left the Olympic village."

Greece has sent a team of 97 to the Rio Games.
