A six-year-old boy was killed and 38 persons were injured in a grenade explosion in the Philippines province of Sultan Kudarat, authorities said on Monday.
Alton John Antonio was killed when an explosion hit a carnival in Esperanza town on Sunday night, Xinhua quoted a Mindanao regional police official as saying.
The official said the injured were brought to different hospitals for treatment among whom one was in "serious condition".
He added that unidentified attackers lobbed two grenades at the carnival but only one exploded. The other grenade was recovered and defused.
Authorities are now trying to establish the identities of the suspects.
