The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel killed a Maoist during a gun battle in Lebed village of Khunti district in Jharkhand and apprehended another Tuesday morning.
A CRPF official said the killed man was identified as Ramesh Pahan while Lal Mohan Pahan is the other rebel who was caught. He said the CRPF carried out the joint operation with the state police.
"A Maoist camp located on a hillock near the Lebed village was also destroyed by the security forces," he added.
"When the troops were combing the area, they were fired upon by a group of Maoists. In retaliatory firing, the Maoist was killed while another surrendered and was caught. Two .12 bore rifles were seized from the camp," said the official.
Intelligence inputs indicate some more Maoists were injured in the shootout but they managed to escape.
