Global software and cloud major Oracle was cited as a leader in the Forrester Wave: Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) fourth quarter report of 2015 for its mature EDW solution focused on cloud, real-time, and big data.

In a report, the US-based research firm Forrester said: "Oracle's dominant position in the database market, growing support for data management appliances, and end-to-end data integration platform give it a competitive advantage."

The research carried out by the firm evaluated 10 of the most significant EDW vendors across 31 criteria.

"Database is in Oracle's DNA. Oracle's solutions for Big Data, In-Memory technology and Engineered Systems enable enterprise data warehouses to be leveraged for smarter business decisions, leading to innovations, operational efficiency and an enhanced customer experience," Andy Mendelsohn, executive vice president, Oracle Database Server Technologies, said in a statement.

"Oracle views this ranking as a testament to the value that our on-going innovations provide to customers," Mendelsohn added.

At "OpenWorld" conference in San Francisco last year, Oracle announced the Oracle Cloud Platform for Big Data and also extended the Oracle Exadata Database Machine to the cloud.

Oracle also launched state-of-the-art SPARC M7 microprocessor, the world's first cost-effective silicon-based memory intrusion detection and a high-speed encryption chip, that offers data security and memory protection without performance degradation.

"Data warehousing is one of the core technology areas where we have driven many innovations over the years. These innovations integrate and extend our data management offerings both on-premises and in the cloud," Mendelsohn noted.

"Oracle recognizes that a secured, scalable data warehouse is the foundation for Big Data and Big Data will continue to drive demands on IT to provide more agile warehousing solutions," he added.

On the recognition, Mendelsohn said Oracle is honoured and inspired by this ranking as a leader.

"Oracle believes that Forrester's recognition further affirms that our technology is delivering the right solutions to address customers' business requirements. We also believe it reflects that our data warehouse, In-Memory and Big Data solutions are delivering industry-driving innovations that are helping to transform IT," he added.

Forrester is a research and advisory firms headquartered in US state of Massachusetts that works with business and technology leaders to develop customer-obsessed strategies that drive growth.
