At least 2,079 people were killed in Syria during seven months of international coalition airstrikes, led by the US, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Thursday.

An estimated 66 of the fatalities were civilians, including 10 children and six women, who were killed in attacks on Islamic State (IS)-controlled oilfields, Efe news agency reported citing SOHR.

The NGO calculated that 1,922 largely non-Syrian IS militants were killed in airstrikes in the several provinces including Homs, Aleppo, al-Raqqa, among others, while some 90 members of the Nusra Front, the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda, were killed in similar attacks, in addition to an Islamist militant being held prisoner by the IS.
