Cash amounting to Rs 13.90 crore, being transported without proper papers, has been seized by flying squads across Tamil Nadu, a poll official said on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters here, Tamil Nadu's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Satyabrata Sahoo said that a meeting of bankers have been called to discuss the procedures to be followed while transporting cash for filling up of ATMs.
He said 18,768 licensed guns have been surrendered out of the total 21,999 in the state, while 63 guns have been impounded and licence for 32 guns have been cancelled.
Sahoo also said 79 observers will monitor the election expenditure incurred by candidates in Tamil Nadu.
