Tamil filmmaker Pa.Ranjith has the unique ability to take up social issues and narrate them in an entertaining and engaging manner, says producer Shareen Mantri Kedia of Namah Pictures.
Shareen is working with Ranjith, known for films like "Kabali" and "Kaala", on a project, which will mark his Hindi directorial debut.
"Pa.Ranjith is an incredible talent. He is a very rooted filmmaker and has the unique ability to take up social issues and narrate them in an entertaining and engaging manner," Shareen told IANS.
According to sources, they are working on a "period film based on a true story".
"We discussed a few ideas and discovered that there was a subject that we were both equally passionate about and decided to work together on it," added Shareen, whose Namah Pictures also backed "Karenjit Kaur - The Untold Story of Sunny Leone", based on the life of actress Sunny Leone.
Asked if there are enough women behind the camera in Bollywood, Shareen said: "Women are increasingly occupying important positions behind the camera. Be it producers, directors or technicians we see women helming affairs across the board."
