Pakistani Kashmir's Prime Minister, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, has condemned a statement by the new Indian Army chief warning of a "more than adequate, strong and immediate" response in case of incidents like the beheading of soldiers, saying it could lead the region towards instability and militarism, a media report said Monday.

Referring to the beheading of an Indian soldier in January 2013, General Dalbir Singh Suhag had last week warned Pakistan of "more than adequate, strong and immediate" response to such incidents, Dawn online reported.

"It's India that always resorts to ceasefire violations and shelling of innocent and unarmed civilian population on our side of LoC and then they lays the blame on Pakistan," Majeed said.

He maintained that India aimed to break the will of the Kashmiris.

Majeed claimed that Pakistani troops were vigilantly guarding the LoC in the disputed Himalayan region with the full backing of the Kashmiris.

Majeed also said India would attempt to restrain the Kashmiris from celebrating Pakistan's Independence Day later this month.
