Parts of Delhi get rain, Friday to be wet day too

The weather turned pleasant in the capital Thursday evening, as parts of the city received rain accompanied by cool winds. The Met office has forecast more rain Friday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city received 5.2 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Thursday.

The day had been cloudy and humid until the showers occurred in the evening. The maximum temperature settled at 34.1 degrees Celsius - average for this time of year. The minimum was a notch above average at 27.2 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity stood at 91 percent.

The IMD has forecast more rains Friday.

"The city will witness an overcast sky Friday with light rains expected in some parts during the day," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 32 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively, Friday.

According to IMD, the city recorded a total rainfall of 222.6 mm, 20 percent above average, since the arrival of the monsoon June 16 - a fortnight ahead of schedule.

Wednesday's maximum temperature settled a notch above the season's average at 34.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was normal at 26.7 degrees Celsius.
