Alexandre Pato scored his seventh goal in nine matches as Sao Paulo defeated Sport 2-0 in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Pato struck with a low angled finish in the 26th minute after Rithely had turned the ball into his own net at the Morumbi stadium Sunday, reports Xinhua.
The 25-year-old former AC Milan striker has netted seven goals in Brazil's top-flight this season.
Sao Paulo are now second in the standings, seven points behind Cruzeiro at the season's midway point.
"We are growing with every match and are on track to achieving our goals at the end of the season," Pato said.
In other matches Sunday, Atletico Mineiro defeated Botafogo 1-0, Fluminense drew 3-3 with Cruzeiro, Palmeiras held Atletico Paranaense 1-1, Bahia and Coritiba played out a goalless draw, Figueirense won 3-2 at Internacional and Criciuma drew 0-0 with Corinthians.
