Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain has decided to confer Tamgha-i-Shujaat on 145 students and staff members of the Army Public School in Peshawar who were killed in a terrorist attack Dec 16.
A meeting chaired by the president decided that the civil award would be conferred on the principal, teachers, other staffers and students of the school who were killed by the terrorists, Dawn cited an official as saying.
A civilian who died in the attack would also be given the award. Those who were injured would also be given some awards, official added.
The presidency will prepare a summary, which will be sent to the cabinet division.
Tamgha-i-Shujaat would also be conferred on a policeman killed while intercepting a suicide bomber at the gate of the Peshawar Press Club in December 2009.
