Lazio president Claudio Lotito said that coach Vladimir Petkovic had been sacked for not being focused on the club.
Petkovic was fired for breach of contract following the Serbian's signing for the Swiss national team from July 2014, reports Xinhua.
"The club never interfered with Petkovic's choices. We signed international level players. Up until now there has been a lack of tactical organisation and this negatively influenced their confidence. Evidently Petkovic had his mind elsewhere," Lotito said Saturday.
Petkovic was replaced by Edy Reja whom Lotito hopes could bring consistency to the team.
"Edy Reja has brought back order to the team and I hope with the new coach things can settle," he added.
