Pleasant morning in Delhi, rain expected

It was a pleasant, cloudy morning in the capital Thursday with the minimum temperature settling at 25.9 degrees Celsius, a notch below average for this time of year. The met department has forecast rain later in the day.

"The sky will remain cloudy. Rains and thunder showers are expected in some areas of the city during the day," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 34 degrees Celsius, the IMD official added.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. stood at 86 percent.

According to the IMD, the capital received total rainfall of 460 mm, which is 63 percent above average for this time of year.

Wednesday's maximum and minimum temperature were both normal for this time of year at 33.7 and 26 degrees Celsius.
