Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday evening discussed with senior ministers the Supreme Court verdict ordering restoration of the Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh and sought a detailed briefing from the Union Home Ministry.

Sources said the meeting was attended among others by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and senior officials.

The Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi also briefed Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad separately, sources said.

The central government is unlikely to challenge or seek review of the ruling of the five-member bench of the Supreme Court.

A section of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reportedly not against the idea of seeking a review of the judgement but would favour the incumbent Chief Minister Kalikho Pul to file the review petition.

In Guwahati, Kalikho Pul maintained that there was "no threat" to his government and that he will file a review petition in the Supreme Court.

The Centre had imposed President's Rule in the northeastern state on January 26.

President Pranab Mukherjee had revoked the President's Rule on February 19 after People's Party of Arunachal Pradesh (PPA) leader Kalikho Pul staked claim to form government with the support of BJP, rebel Congress MLAs and independents.
