Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday inaugurated the new terminal building of the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) here.
The new Terminal-2 (T2), spread over 1,400 acres, has come up at an estimated cost of Rs.12,500 crore ($2 billion).
The swanky new terminal, which has been developed under airport modernisation master plan by the Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (MIAL), can cater to around 40 million passengers annually.
MIAL is a joint venture between Airports Authority of India and industrial conglomerate GVK, which was mandated the CSIA's modernizing and upgrading in February 2006.
