Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday paid tributes to Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes who died Nov 27 after being hit by a bouncer during a first class match at Sydney two days earlier.
"Heart-rending funeral in Australia. Phil Hughes, we will miss you. Your game & exuberance won you fans all over! RIP," tweeted Modi.
Hughes' funeral was held Wednesday in his hometown Macksville.
Australia captain Michael Clarke and opener Aaron Finch were among the pallbearers who carried Hughes' casket on their shoulders as part of the funeral rituals.
India skipper Virat Kohli and team director Ravi Shastri also attended the funeral.
