A police sub inspector here has been booked for raping his niece over a period of several months, police said Monday.
Accused police sub inspector Razashad Shaikh, 28, is presently attached to the traffic cell of the Mapusa police station, located 15 km from here.
"The complaint filed by the victim's parents says that the police sub inspector was raping their daughter since January and had threatened her not to disclose the same to her parents," a police official said.
A first information report has been filed and the officer has been booked for rape, among other charges.
No arrests have been made so far.
