A policeman was critically injured Monday in Kashmir's Pulwama district after a man attacked him with a knife.
The victim, a constable in the state police, was seriously injured in the knife attack in Pampore town of Pulwama, 12 km from Srinagar.
"The injured constable received a knife wound in his neck. He has been shifted to the Soura Medical Institute in Srinagar. The assailant was overpowered by other policemen and has been taken into custody", a senior police officer said without revealing the victim's name.
It was not immediately clear whether the assailant has a militant connection.
"An FIR has been lodged and the matter is being investigated," the officer said.
