A senior Iranian official said here Friday that the best possible way to solve the Syrian crisis is through political process.
Iran's parliament committee on foreign policy and national security chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who is visiting Lebanon, made the remarks after holding meetings with Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, Xinhua reported.
"As the Syrian crisis enters the third year, I hope that we will witness a change in the policies of ... the United States in the region," he said, accusing Israel and the US.
"It is up to the United Nations and the international community to pave the way for the feuding Syrian parties to engage in a political dialogue that would eventually leads to a fair and transparent presidential elections this year."
