Vatican City, Oct 4 (IANS/AKI) Pope Francis on Tuesday urged St Francis of Assisi, of one of the most venerated religious figure in history, to teach Catholics how to bring peace.
"Saint Francis, teach us to be instruments of peace which has its source in God," he tweeted to mark feast day of the patron saint of animals and the environment.
When he was elected pontiff in March 2013, Francis explained to reporters why he chose to be named after the medieval saint, calling him "the man of poverty, the man of peace, the man who loves and protects creation".
Francis' nine-language @pontifex account now has 30 million followers.
